On Wednesday, December 7th, from 2-4 PM, Dr. Moon Kim came to the Magellan/Venture Port office to give a seminar on 'How to Present to U.S. Venture Capitalists'.
I had met with Dr. Kim several times previously to arrange the event, and the seminar turned out to be a huge success! Representatives from between 30-40 companies attended the event, and everyone involved was very pleased with the result.
Some of the key topics from the seminar were:
- The key 'must have' elements in a pitch
- What VC's need to know
- Which red flags to avoid
- What makes a company successful
- What is an angel investor and why
- VC structure
- VC funding stages
- In the VC meeting
- What do you have (intellectual properties, book keeping certification, etc)
- Practical tips for Korean businesses (do's and don'ts during a VC meeting)
- Future road map
- Getting an expert's help
Dr. Kim met a number of companies during the event, and we are in the process of arranging further 1on1 pitches between him and a number of key companies (including Logicplant, Apex CNS, Humanpass, WE Interactive, Add2Paper, etc) at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in Samsung-dong where he is staying. The presentations will probably take place during the morning of Friday, December 9th.
